CawCaw Afternoon

My husband Frank and I frequently visit this local County Park, the CawCaw Interpretive Center. CawCaw is a former rice plantation which is a sanctuary for birds and waterfowl. There are also lots of alligators! We take binoculars, our bird reference book, and sometimes I take my paints and brushes. I painted this while sitting up on a rice dike one afternoon. Frank had been off walking around checking out the wild life. When he came back to my spot, he look over my shoulder down into the canal and said "Oh my God!" There just behind me was a gator, floating around in the water, with his eye on me.
