My Hot Pink Inner Soul

Deep Down in My Hot Pink Inner Soul - 12"x16" - Oil

O My Hot Pink Inner Soul - 12"x16" - Oil

I bought these shoes at the Good Will store - just to paint them. It was fun to shop for shoes, just because I like them, not worrying about size or fit. I'll donate them back to Good Will and look for some other cute shoes to paint! I plan to show these paintings at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery in July.

Quashie's Mural

Check out this blog by my brother-in-law Colin Quashie. He was commissioned by the University of North Carolina to paint a 50' mural to honor black North Carolinians who have contributed to society. They had a mural done in the 1950's to honor prominent NC'ers, but the only black guy in it was toting a bale of cotton. Quashie's theme is the Greensboro Four at the Lunch counter. This time, the Four are the chefs and are doing the serving! The mural will be installed and unveiled at Chapel Hill in July.

Good news about "Ibises"

Watercolor - 15"x22"

I found out today that "Ibises" has been accepted into the Judith Ryan Williams "Nature and Wildlife" Juried Exhibition, sponsored by the St. Augustine Art Association. I saw a "Call for Entries" ad in an art magazine and decided to go for it. My daughter Allison and my grandson Nicholas will go with me to St Augustine, Florida in a couple of weeks to deliver the piece. The show will be on exhibit through August 28.

Charleston Side Porch

11"x14" - Oil

This painting is based on photos I took in the historic district of downtown Charleston earlier in the spring. I hung it at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery. The wrought iron gate was the most fun to paint on this one!
