"That Purple-lined Palace of Sweet Sin"

11"x14" - Oil

I found this line in a John Keats' poem "Lamia" and I thought it fit this painting. This was totally fun to paint. Purple is my next-to-favorite color. (So, what do you think my FAVORITE color is?)

36"x48" - Oil

I finally finished the largest piece I have ever painted. "Dignity" will be on exhibit at Charleston's Gaillard Auditorium in the Moja Arts Festival Invitational Exhibit in September and October. The show's title is "I-8-Tee: The Exhibit" and its theme is Haiti. This is also my first attempt at social commentary, on the dignity of Haitians to rebuild their lives and their country. A former student of mine, now a nurse, agreed to model for me for this piece.
