"Shipping Out"

Watercolor - 10" x14"
I painted this to honor my father, Walter A. Hazel Sr, who was drafted while still in high school in 1944.  Daddy was never deployed overseas, but he served mainly in Norfolk, Virginia, including taking some training at Hampton Institute.  He was discharged after the war in 1946.
This is one of 17 of my paintings on exhibit at the Charleston County Library Saul Alexander Gallery (Calhoun St downtown) for the remainder of February.  The exhibit has been in place since February 1, and I am very delighted with the wonderful comments viewers have written in my guest book there.  Thanks to everyone who took the time to go and comment.  If you have not seen it, it will be there until Feburary 28.
